Highlights

  • Syria: During the reporting period, IOM’s health interventions reached over 30,000 beneficiaries with primary healthcare, mobility aids, dialysis kits, hearing aid services, and diabetic measurement devices. Furthermore, the Miznaz Reception Centre in Atareb was declared open to receive IDPs on 25 August.

  • Turkey: In August, social activities were organized for the Syrian Refugees and host community members, with more than 250 Syrian and Turkish children participating in the events. Moreover, IOM and InnoCampus continue conducting the Entrepreneurship training programmes with a second programme in Izmir.

  • Lebanon: In August, IOM screened nearly 700 individuals for tuberculosis (TB) and identified one active case. As of 31 August, 8,182 beneficiaries have been screened with 8 cases of active TB identified.

  • Iraq: IOM has completed the rehabilitation of 19 schools in Sulaymaniyah, Dohuk and Erbil governorates. Furthermore, over 60 beneficiaries in Ninewa attended health awareness-raising sessions conducted by IOM.

  • Jordan: As part of IOM’s capacity building programme on countertrafficking, IOM trained over 130 frontline staff from UNHCR, Caritas and IOM who work with vulnerable refugees and potential victims of human trafficking.
