Mumbai News Live Updates: Former corporator Nana Ambole joins Shiv Sena

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to Raigad fort, addressed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on a first-name basis.

BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar hit back at Raut, saying some people have the habit of making preposterous claims, while his party's member of legislative council (MLC) Prasad Lad wondered whether the Sena (UBT) leader has gone mad.

Talking to reporters, Raut said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should direct that a case be registered against Shah for insulting the much-revered Maratha warrior king.--PTI

Union minister Raksha Khadse on Sunday urged people to practise the ideals of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and said it is a matter of pride to be born in a country where leaders like him brought about transformative changes.

She made the statement while leading the ‘Jai Bhim Padyatra' (foot march) in Mumbai, organised to pay tribute to the iconic social reformer and chief architect of India's Constitution.

“We need to implement Ambedkar's thoughts in our life,” said the Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports.--PTI

Deputy CM Eknath Shinde wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that Nana Ambole, a former corporator, on Sunday joined the Shiv Sena.

He was also appointed as Worli-Shivadi assembly coordinator. Shiv Sena secretary Sanjay More among other high-ranking office bearers in the party were present on this occasion.

"Former corporator Nana Ambole also publicly joined the #shivsena party today. He was welcomed into the party and wished him well for his future social and political journey. He was also appointed as the Worli-Shivdi assembly coordinator. Shiv Sena secretary Sanjay More, former senior corporator Ram Repale as well as Shiv Sena office bearers and Shiv Sainiks were present on this occasion," Shinde wrote on X.

Ambole, who joined the BJP after leaving the Sena, contested in the Assembly election in 2024 as an independent candidate but lost.

NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar has criticised the police action against job aspirants preparing for the Maharashtra Public Service Commission examination and asked the state government to be sensitive towards their issues.

A day after staging a protest in Pune, the job aspirants met Pawar on Saturday and conveyed their grievances about academic challenges and recent administrative decisions.
