Sheikh Hamdan to begin first official visit to India on Tuesday
text_fieldsSheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, begins his first official visit to India on April 8. The two-day visit follows an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and aims to strengthen the growing strategic partnership between the UAE and India.
During his visit, Sheikh Hamdan holds high-level plans to talk with senior Indian officials to explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. Prime Minister Modi will host a working lunch for the Crown Prince, to follow by discussions focused on deepening ties across sectors such as trade, investment, defence and innovation. Sheikh Hamdan will also meet with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
On Tuesday, April 9, Sheikh Hamdan will travel to Mumbai, where he takes part in a business roundtable featuring prominent business leaders from both nations. The forum focuses on expanding partnerships in infrastructure, technology, finance and emerging industries.
The visit highlights the UAE’s strategy to build strong international alliances that support sustainable growth, technological advancement and shared prosperity. It also reflects the momentum in UAE-India relations under the leadership of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In early 2024, President Sheikh Mohamed visits India as the chief guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. His arrival in Gujarat is met with a warm welcome, reinforcing the deepening bond between the two nations. In September 2023, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also visits India, holding talks with Prime Minister Modi and paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
Dubai continues to serve as a vital link in the UAE-India relationship, especially in commerce and cultural exchange. With nearly 4 million Indians living in the UAE, the people-to-people ties remain a cornerstone of this longstanding partnership.
