UK weather maps show when heat surge will bring scorching 22C blast in April
The latest weather maps from Netweather show Spring weather returning on April 13, with the heat blasting the south of England in time for the weekend
Brits are set to bask in glorious sunshine as UK weather maps hint at balmy temperatures set to grace the country later this month, potentially soaring to a delightful 22C in mere days.
Netweather's forecast is promising a return to splendid spring weather come April 13, with the south of England poised to enjoy the lion's share of sunshine and warmth.
The predictive map singles out an area just west of London where mercury might reach 22C, while London itself and parts wider West, sweeping over parts of Berkshire and Oxfordshire, can anticipate basking in 20C heat.
Across the broader canvas of England, it seems many are in for a treat of mild air, with anticipated temperatures ranging from a pleasant 18C to 20C.
Breezing into the north of England and southern Scotland, thermometers are expected to hover between a comfortable 16C and 17C, reports the Express.
Conversely, the northern reaches of Scotland will experience cooler climes, with the Scottish Highlands seeing a chillier 12C.
Wales is set to be washed with 18C warmth, whereas Northern Ireland is depicted green on the weather charts, indicating cooler but still mild shades of 14C to 15C.
The Met Office, looking ahead to April 9-18, predicts "largely settled conditions" predominated by dry spells and "plenty of sunshine for most."
Temperature predictions remain contingent upon wind patterns and cloud coverage; however, the Met Office has dropped hints that: "Towards the middle of April, the weather is likely to turn more unsettled for a time with a greater chance of showers or longer spells of rain for all regions."
Despite the sunny start predicted earlier on, the forecast advises that the latter half of April could be showered with "showers or longer spells of rain at times for most."
The weather outlook for the UK is a mixed bag of temperatures initially hitting seasonal norms before rising as we head further into the month.
According to the Met Office: "Temperatures are likely to be around average at first, before above average temperatures become more likely again later in the period."
Brits basked in the warmest day of the year this Friday, with the mercury soaring past 23C in the South. This brought a pleasant surprise, making parts of the UK even hotter than typical holiday hotspots like Ibiza, Rhodes, and Cyprus.
To put it in historical terms, the UK's record high for April stands at a scorching 29.4C, reached on the 16th of April, 1949.
