United have the advantage of an extra day of preparation with City in action on Wednesday night as they came out as 2-0 winners against Leicester City. The match takes place on Sunday afternoon with kick-off at 4.30pm.

Ahead of the game it has been confirmed that defenders defenders Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw will not be available for the game. Heaven is stepping up his recovery after injuring his ankle against Leicester before the international break, while a definite return date has not been give, he is expected back before the end of the season.

Martinez is a longer-term absentee as he recovers from an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Shaw is the closest to returning, but Amorim has confirmed he won’t be ready for the game against City.

"Luke is not ready yet,” he said. “We are starting to do some drills with the team but we are building Luke."

Winger Amad Diallo will also miss the game due to an ankle injury. But there is a possibility that he could return before the end of the season.

Central defender Jonny Evans is also expected to miss the game, although his return date is unknown. He has missed the last 19 matches due to a muscles injury he suffered back in December.

United will be waiting on news on Matthijs de Ligt and Kobbie Mainoo. De Ligt appeared to turn his ankle during the first half of the defeat against Forest, but was able to complete the full 90 minutes of the game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Amorim revealed that the defender will need to be assessed before the match to see if he can be available. It’s a similar situation for Mainoo.

The midfielder has not been available since February and has missed the last nine games. He could however be in contention to make the squad against City.
