Manchester United reportedly remain interested in Atalanta midfielder Ederson. United, who have been long-term admirers of the Brazilian, tried to sign him last summer but the Serie A side rejected a £42million (€50m) bid according to reports in Italy.

Nonetheless, he remains a player they admire and have continued to follow him heading into the summer transfer window as per the latest reports. Tutto Atalanta now claim there is a chance the 25-year-old could leave the Serie A side at the end of the season.

If he does depart, he will not be short of options with Liverpool, Juventus, Atletico Madrid and United all 'waiting' to make a move.

It's said they are 'ready to knock' on the door of Atalanta regarding a deal. The Italian club meanwhile, are thought to already be anticipating his exit and have identified Empoli's Toni Anjorin as a target to replace him.

Atalanta believe the 23-year-old is the 'ideal' candidate to take over from Ederson. Speaking about his future last summer, he admitted being open to a possible move to England.

"I don’t know, I’ve thought about it a lot, I like Italy, I’m well adapted, but I’m curious about the Premier League, so I don’t know," Ederson said.

"I’m still growing, so I don’t know if I’ll stay in Italy, I think I still have more to prove. If I go somewhere else, then too. I will continue to grow.

"My future is something that doesn’t worry me. What worries me right now is doing well here with the Brazilian team, leaving a positive impression because it is my first call-up.

"Making sure everyone knows me here just like everyone knows me in Italy. I am very focused, very happy, trying to make the most of this moment with the national team."

Despite being under contract until 2027, the report adds that offers for the midfielder could reach €60m (£51m).
