Heavy snow possible in parts of New Mexico
A winter-like storm is headed for New Mexico and will bring significant impacts to many parts of the state.
Ahead of the storm, winter storm warnings and wind advisories have been issued for much of eastern and northern New Mexico.
Winter storm warning - northern mountains
Heavy snow is expected in the northern mountains of New Mexico.
Snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are possible in areas below 8,500 feet with 18 inches above 8,500 feet.

Winds could gust as high as 50 mph near the Raton Pass.
Travel impacts
Travel along Interstate 25 could become difficult to near impossible.
Road closures are possible as the storm moves through New Mexico.
Snow and blowing snow could lead to near-zero visibility along highways in the northern mountains and the Raton Pass.
Winter storm warning - Central Highlands and the Glorieta Pass
Heavy snow and blowing snow are possible in areas just east of the northern mountains, including Las Vegas, San Miguel County, Harding County, and Union County.

Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible across the area. Areas around Las Vegas and Clines Corners could see up to 10 inches of snow with wind gusts up to 50 mph.
Travel impacts
Travel could become very difficult on parts of Interstate 25 and Interstate 40.
Snow and blowing snow could create near-zero visibility on a majority of the roadways in New Mexico.
Winter storm warning - Sandia and Manzano Mountains
Heavy and blowing snow are expected in the mountains east of Albuquerque.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are expected with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour.
Travel impacts
Travel could become very difficult along Interstate 40 through the Tijeras Canyon with visibility dropping below one-half mile.
Winter storm warning - East Central New Mexico
Heavy and blowing snow are likely in Curry, Quay and Guadalupe Counties in east central New Mexico on Friday night.
Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible with 8 inches possible along I-40. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
Winter storm warning - Southern Mountains, De Baca & Roosevelt Counties
Periods of heavy snow and blowing snow are possible in this area throughout the night on Friday and during the day on Saturday.
Snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches are possible with winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
