A 39-year-old woman has become the seventh person to be arrested in an ongoing investigation into modern slavery in Sheffield.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of human trafficking concerning sexual exploitation and on suspicion of modern slavery on Friday, March 28 She has since been released on bail.
She is the seventh suspect to be arrested in an ongoing investigation launched by South Yorkshire Police' s Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime Unit in November last year. It follows reports of sexual exploitation in Arbourthorne area of Sheffield.
Another six were previously arrested in connection with the same inquiry and have also been bailed, including:
- A 23-year-old man, arrested in December 2024 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
- A 26-year-old woman arrested in December 2024 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
- A 25-year-old man, arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
- A 30-year-old man, arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
- A 40- year-old man, arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
- A 31-year-old woman, arrested in January 2025 on suspicion of modern slavery offences concerning sexual exploitation
