The 2025 Basketball Africa League (BAL) season will tip off April 5. For the first time in BAL history, games will take place in Rabat, Morocco, as part of the NBA’s partnership with FIBA. This season features the top club teams from 12 African countries playing 48 games in four different locations across the continent.
Where are games being played?
The locations include Rabat (Morocco), Kigali (Rwanda) and Dakar (Senegal). Postseason matchups will be played in Pretoria (South Africa) – marking the first year the Finals will be held outside of Kigali.

What is the format for the BAL?
The 12 qualifying teams are divided into three conferences — Kalahari, Sahara and Nile, competing in the group phase portion of the tournament. Eight teams from across the three conferences will travel to Pretoria for four seeding games followed by an eight-game, single-elimination playoffs and finals from Friday, June 6 – Saturday, June 14.
