PNG Fashion Week is expanding its global reach with a high-profile photoshoot in Brisbane, Australia, cementing its over ten-year partnership with Fiji Fashion Week. The collaboration aims to showcase the talent of Papua New Guinea’s leading designers to an international audience.

The photoshoot will feature the distinctive designs of PNG’s Wandid Karimbo, Natasha Tamanabae, and Cathey Curry, known for their innovative styles. PNG Fashion Week’s brand ambassador, Miss Incennea Minz, will model the garments, building on her successful Sydney shoot last year.

Philma Kelegai, Founder and Managing Director of PNG Fashion Week, will be joined by Temesia Tuicaumia, Director of Fiji Fashion Week, and Asvin Singe, Fiji Fashion Week’s official photographer. The team will work with Brisbane-based models Levi Bird and Grace Akaumu, and Sydney-based model Solomon Tuipulotu, to create visually striking images.

“Our partnership with Fiji Fashion Week has been a cornerstone of our success for over a decade,” said Kelegai. “This Brisbane photoshoot is a monumental opportunity for our designers to gain international recognition. With the expertise of Temesia, Asvin, and the incredible models, we are confident this will be an unforgettable experience showcasing the best of PNG fashion.”

The photoshoot marks a significant step in PNG Fashion Week’s mission to elevate PNG’s fashion industry on the global stage. Miss Minz’s participation highlights the vibrant and bold designs emerging from the region.

The inclusion of models Bird, Akaumu, and Tuipulotu adds an international dimension to the collaboration, showcasing the diversity of talent within the Pacific and beyond.

The partnership between PNG and Fiji Fashion Weeks exemplifies the power of long-term collaboration and cross-cultural exchange, positioning Pacific fashion at the forefront of the global scene.

PNG Fashion Week remains dedicated to nurturing PNG designers and increasing the visibility of Pacific fashion globally. Further updates on this collaboration will be released as the project progresses.
