Female parole officer arrested in Abilene on sex trafficking charges goes free from jail

She was suspended from her job with TDCJ.

A parole officer suspected of sex trafficking was charged Tuesday in Abilene, according to online jail records.

Symone Danielle Miller, 31, of San Angelo was free Wednesday from Taylor County Jail on $250,000 in bail, according to online jail records.

Miller was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in connection with incidents in March 2021, court documents show.

She was indicted on one charge of trafficking of a person and on another charge of trafficking of a person under 18 for prostitution/forced labor, according to indictments dated March 11.

Trafficking is a second degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. The second trafficking charge for a victim under 18 is a first degree felony carrying a punishment up to 20 years in prison.

A parole officer arrested in Abilene has been accused of trafficking in Tom Green County.

Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesperson confirmed that Miller is a parole officer with TDCJ on Wednesday.

Miller is suspended, pending the results of the charges against her, Hannah Haney, TDCJ spokesperson, said in an email.

Miller is suspected of forcing a woman into prostitution by getting her intoxicated without her consent, impairing her judgment and ability to resist in connection with a March 17, 2021, incident in Tom Green County, according to allegations in the indictments.

In addition, Miller is accused of trafficking a person younger than 18 for prostitution in connection with an incident also on March 17, 2021, according to allegations in the indictments.
