JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A long human trafficking case in Jasper County comes to a close after one man was found guilty and six others pleaded guilty.

Seven people were charged with human trafficking and sexual battery, among other charges, against a minor after it was reported to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office that a minor was being sexually abused.

It was later determined that the child’s father was allowing men to sexually abuse the child in exchange for them providing him with drugs.

Six people entered plea agreements with the State for their varying roles in the case.

Tajik Jermaine Page, one of multiple defendants, chose a trial by jury.

Page was charged with human trafficking and sexual battery.

Page was found guilty after a two-day trial prosecuted by 13th District Attorney Chris Hennis and Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Wood.

Circuit Judge Stan Sorey sentenced Page to life in prison for human trafficking and to thirty years to serve for the sexual battery count.

“The fact this office took the case to trial and got a conviction was a proud moment, but what makes me even prouder is knowing that we were able to get justice for a child that had no one in her corner,” said Hennis.
