This year, the organisation supported 43 humanitarian projects, 4 of them based in Luxembourg, with the remaining 39 spread across different continents.

The Bazar International's recent check donation event was a momentous occasion that touched the hearts of many, but most importantly gave us a small glimpse of the effort and dedication that goes into the non-profit organisation.

This year's "Remise de Chèques" (check donation) took place on Wednesday 22 March, at the BGL BNP Paribas Bank in Luxembourg, where a record amount of €650.000 was donated to 43 charities, thanks to the profits made back in November, during the annual Bazar International. Although the charities are scattered around the globe and are very diverse, they all have something in common - helping people in need.

It is a great moment with immense joy, to see the outcome of our year-long work. It is very moving to know that with this record-high result we can give so much support to humanitarian projects across the globe”, said Carmen Decalf, President of the Bazar International and the person who "eats, sleeps, and breathes the Bazar" according to Charlotte de Vreeze-Nauta, who is not only a member of the Board of the Bazar International, but also one of our RTL Today contributors.

From charities like Terres Rouges that looks after children who live in the streets of Benin (West Africa) and will now be able to increase the capacity of their residential centre where children between 5 and 12 are provided with basic needs, to Association Écoles CHAMPA LAO in Laos who can now significantly progress in building a HORESCA training centre that protects disadvantaged and out-of-school young people from sexual exploitation and/or human trafficking, to organisations like Rugute in Lithuania who supports children with cancer and helps them receive the best possible care and support, the list is long and filled with touching projects that will benefit from the Bazar's financial support.

For this year's principal charity, the Bazar chose the Soeurs d'Ursuline project, a medical facility in South Sudan that does 2500 medical interventions per month, with the help of one doctor and two nurses.

"The financial support of the Bazar International supports charities that are very diverse in nature: medical support, reintegration of young and vulnerable people, education of indigenous women, psychological support for children that have fallen victim to sexual abuse or forced marriage, help for families with seriously ill children. The list is long and every project means a lot to us", according to the President.

Emergency Relief Fund

"The Bazar International also has an emergency relief fund in place that allows for ad hoc support of victims of emergencies and natural disasters around the world quickly and effectively. The record-high results of last year’s Bazar weekend allow for a solid injection in this fund, given that natural disasters take place more and more frequently."

"One donation was recently made to offer help to the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, via Caritas. The Bazar International continues to support various initiatives to help children, young people and families displaced from Ukraine in neighbouring regions."
