Two people from Alabama arrested in Oklahoma City, accused of human trafficking
Two people from Alabama were arrested in Oklahoma City on complaints of human trafficking after a woman accused them of forcing her into prostitution and holding her against her will. According to police, at about 2:37 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a motel near Meridian Avenue and I-40 in Oklahoma City, after a woman called 911 to report that she needed help and that a man was chasing her. An officer responded to the area and found the woman hiding behind cars in a parking lot. She said she was with a man and woman from Alabama and was being held against her will, according to police. The woman said the 30-year-old man had gotten upset and was threatening to beat her up. Police said they believe the incident was a possible human trafficking situation. The woman told police that the man used threats of violence and coercion to force her to drive to Oklahoma from Alabama. She said she was told to post a prostitution advertisement online and start earning money. The victim told police that she was in the room alone when the man and a 20-year-old woman arrived and demanded money and threatened violence against her. When the two left to get a room key, the victim said she left and called 911. The victim told police that the man had beaten her severely in the past for not making enough money from her encounters with men. Police said they went to the room and arrested the man and the woman involved. They are now facing complaints of human trafficking/commercial sex acts. KOCO 5 is not releasing their identities at this time because formal charges have not been filed.
