HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 30-year-old man has pleaded guilty to witness tampering in connection with a case involving a death row exoneree accused of trying to develop a major prostitution ring on Oahu.

Jonathan Cadet pleaded guilty in federal court Monday, according to a news release.

He faces a maximum term of three years behind bars when he's sentenced in November.

According to court documents, Cadet contacted a witness in the criminal sex trafficking case involving Isaiah McCoy.

Cadet told the woman that he knew she was a witness in the pending case and then harassed her, calling her a "rat" and other names.

He admitted in court that he intended to dissuade her from testifying.
