Gulfport man arrested on human trafficking charges

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A Gulfport man was taken into custody in connection with a Harrison County human trafficking investigation.

Maxwell Isley Phillips, 30, was arrested when investigators conducted a search warrant at the In Town Suites on Highway 49 in Gulfport.

Officials say a 17-year-old female victim was found inside the room. She remains in the custody of Homeland Security.

Phillips faces one charge of human trafficking, according to Sheriff Troy Peterson. Officers executed the warrant and took Phillips into custody.

Maxwell Isley Phillips was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility and is being held on a $250,000 bond.
