Local Law Enforcement Agencies Arrest 19 in Nationwide Underage Human Trafficking Investigation

Federal Bureau of Investigation
The Oklahoma City office of the FBI, the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs participated in an operation investigating underage human trafficking.

Oklahoma law enforcement agencies were among hundreds who participated in a nationwide investigation into underage human trafficking.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted Operation Cross Country XI last week, working in hotels, casinos, truck stops and street corners, as well as on the internet. Law enforcement recovered 84 minors and arrested 120 traffickers across the United States.

The Oklahoma City office of the FBI, the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs participated in the operation, arresting five traffickers and 14 adult sex workers.

Operation Cross Country XI involved 55  FBI field offices and 78 state and local task forces comprised of hundreds of local law enforcement agencies.  Other collaborators included international partners in Canada, the United Kingdom, Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines.

“This operation isn't just about taking traffickers off the street. It's about making sure we offer help and a way out to these young victims who find themselves caught in a vicious cycle of abuse,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray in a statement.

Victims have been offered medical and mental health treatment and other services.
