SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Apr 8 (ACN) On April 12 to 15, the city of Santiago de Cuba will be the venue of the XXIII International Conference of African and African-American Culture, an event dedicated to women in Africa and in the Diaspora and their role in family and society.
Zoe Cremé, director of the Fernando Ortiz African Cultural Center, the sponsoring institution, said that conference will include the traditional Panel of the African and Caribbean Diplomatic Corps and others about women in faith and in theater, as well as the screening of the Cuban documentaries
Mujeres de fe... señales de lealtad (Women of faith, signs of loyalty) and Iré a Santiago (I will go to Santiago and the collective exhibition Sombras que solo yo veo (Shadows that only I can see), in addition to lectures, debates in commissions and workshops on gender, race, identity, history, ethnology, literature, linguistics, religion, medicine, and the different artistic expressions.
More than 60 papers will be presented by researchers from Colombia, Brazil, United States, Costa Rica, Nigeria, Angola, Timor Leste, Haiti, Gambia, Zimbabwe, Guinea-Bissau, South Africa, and St. Lucia.
The conference is promoted as being aligned with the Program for the Advancement of Women and the approach to raciality and racial discrimination in the island as priorities of the Cuban State.
Likewise, there will be a post-event course organized together with the Centro de Superación para la Cultura and Universidad de Oriente to teach contents related to communication in the digital environment and in times of crisis and to the applications of Artificial Intelligence.
